LTE iPad 3 Coming in Summer, LTE iPhone 5 in Autumn 2012

The main carrier in Japan, NTT DOCOMO, is currently involved in negotiations with Apple to release the next generation iPad with integrated 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) radio technology in the summer of next year, according to Japanese technology website Makotakara (via 9to5 Mac).

The upcoming iPhone 5 should also have LTE connectivity and it will be release in Japan by next autumn the site says. To close the deal Ryuji Yamada, President and CEO, and Senior Executive Vice President Kiyoyuki Tsujimura, and other NTT DOCOMO officials met with Apple's CEO Tim Cook two weeks ago.

According to the report, the discussions took place on Apple's turf and some of the conditions are still under negotiation, but the top officials "agreed in principle" with the deal.

Analysts believe that the timetable for the release of the 4G LTE iPhone 5 might be accurate. For months there has been speculation about Apple working on LTE chipsets, but so far they haven't managed to find the appropriate solutions.

Peter Oppenheimer, Apple's financial officer, explained early this year, "the first generation of LTE chipsets force a lot of design compromises with the handset, and some of those we are just not willing to make."
But by this time next year, we should see how Apple has managed to integrate the technology into its newly designed iPhone.
